Month: November 2018

11/30/2018

–Went to World Time to pick up Speedmaster 105.012-67. Nice work.

–1mm ceramic bearings came in for Seamaster 165.014 bezel. Installed.

11/29/2018

–Power went out at 8:15 AM, came back on at 6:15 PM.

–Went to McDonald’s for lunch and WiFi; got haircut (#8) at Supercuts.

–Went to Round Table Pizza for dinner. Good pizza.

11/28/2018

–Drizzly day.

–Watched Avengers: Infinity War. Kind of over the top.

11/27/2018

–Shopping, Safeway Aptos.

–Cinnamon rolls from Farrell’s Donuts for dessert; huge.

11/26/2018

–Replaced hearing aid batteries ~10AM.

–“Laconico” EZE (easy enforcer) came in, late, from BladeHQ for $365. Flawless grind and everything; don’t know how they do it.

11/25/2018

–Edited photos for CVS Christmas calendar

–Walked to bluff and saw huge broken eucalyptus branch; got a bear claw at El Patio

11/24/2018

–Mowed lawn, sprayed some weeds.

–Read “Depth of Winter” by Craig Johnson. Okay, but probably don’t need to follow the Sheriff Longmire series.

11/22/2018

–Had Pillsbury cinnamon rolls, plus Corralitos bacon, plus eggs, plus grits for breakfast. Also english muffins with homemade lemon and strawberry jams.

–Great Thanksgiving dinner, except 16-pound turkey cooked in less than 2 hours, to Grace’s chagrin. Mashed potatoes, yams, cranberry jelly, dressing, crescent rolls, brussels sprouts too.

11/21/2018

–Got 6 bagels (+1) at The Bagelry for $5.50.

–1/32″ (0.8mm) ball bearings came in for Seamaster bezel; too small. Ordered 1mm bearings.

–Nitecore continuously-variable flashlight came in, to replace (second) failed Jetbeam. Need to buy a couple CR123 batteries.

–Ordered a nicer (than Carmel Cutlery’s) Laconico pseudo-tanto (EZE: Easy Enforcer) from BladeHQ.

–Hearing aids working nicely with iPhone: incoming calls automatically go to them, and Waze navigation voice does as well.

11/20/2018

–Went to Carmel. Put $500 deposit on 2019 Speedmaster 50th Anniversary moon watch at Hesselbein Jewelry (they hadn’t heard anything about it); bought a $1,000 Laconico not-yet-named knife with cool blade from Carmel Cutlery. [edit 11/27: looks a lot like the MinPin that just launched for $225 at Monterey Bay Knives, a Sanford Owen/Ray Laconico collaboration. Made in China, pretty much indistinguishable from the real thing.]

–Lunch at R.G. (real good) Burgers in Crossroads; not bad.

–Put new battery in Grace’s Seiko.

11/19/2018

–Put crystal in Omega Seamaster 165.014; nice job.

–Grace’s quartz Seiko running slow.

11/18/2018

–Ran Eufi in bedroom/bathroom. Noticed minimal feedback from right hearing aid; not sure why.

–Jetbeam flashlight failed (bulb, likely); ordered another continuously-variable light from eBay (Nitecore).

–Made brownies for dessert. Regular oven was a smoke bomb from dinner, so cooked them in microwave/convection for 30 minutes. Perfect.

11/17/2018

–First entry in my new journal.

–Went to LSB holiday craft fair. Bought corn dishes for us, solar frog and t-shirts for Chicago Cantelons, other stuff.

–Reactivated iPhone to take advantage of better hearing aid control than Moto G Android.
